Here’s an interesting little device, currently in KickStarter mode. It basically is just an adjustable string damper, but the video shows it doing a pretty convincing banjo sound. I’d have thought the head, that makes up the top of the banjo, would be the major part of the sound. Guitar-Jo Kickstarter Page.

I use amp sims a lot, so this looks really exciting. I can see myself wasting hours in the scematic tweaking section. I’m especially interested in how well the guitar cloning really works. It sounds very impressive in this demo, check it out.

Just saw this over on ToneFiend. This guy on youtube who goes by the name MotorGoblin, is the MacGuyver of the guitar world. You won’t believe the way he goes about making a vibrato, wah and flanger. Each one of these videos made me laugh out loud when it was revealed what he was building.
