GuitarModerne takes a look at the freshly released “Memento” from Dwarfcraft. Essentially it’s a killswitch, that records the rhythm of your “kills” and applies it to your playing when engaged. This has a lot of potential for cool rhythmic elements, such as what Johnny Marr did in the Smith’s “How Soon is Now”, but with a lot more flexibility.

Electro-Harmonix just released a demo of their new Deluxe Big Muff Pi. They’ve taken the standard Big Muff and added a ton of tweakability. I’m thinking they want to take on all the boutique and DIY builders who are doing variations of their circuit, by putting out the ultimate version.
It’s actually quite impressive. Couldn’t find any information on price or availability. Here’s the specs:
– Delivers all the classic sounds of the original NYC Big Muff Pi, plus extra features
– Foot-switchable MIDS Section helps you cut through when recording or playing live
– MIDS section features four controls so you can fine tune your midrange boost or cut
– Noise gate with adjustable Gate control eliminates noise and hum while preserving your attack and original tone
– Adjustable Attack control adds punch to your single notes and chords
– Switchable Bass Boost for added bottom when you want it
– Expression Pedal input lets you sweep the mids in real time
– True bypass for maximum signal path integrity
– 9V Battery included

I use amp sims a lot, so this looks really exciting. I can see myself wasting hours in the scematic tweaking section. I’m especially interested in how well the guitar cloning really works. It sounds very impressive in this demo, check it out.
