Dave Grohl’s upcoming film about the legendary Sound City Studios looks to be pretty fascinating. The studio which opened in 1970, was responsible for countless hit records including albums by Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash…and the first album ever recorded there was Neil Young’s “After the Goldrush”.
Sound City is also famous for it’s mixing console, a Neve 8028, of which only a few were made. It’s credited with being a large part of the studios “sound”, and Dave Grohl bought the console when Sound City finally closed in 2011.
