I’ve always liked this song, and this is a really nice solo guitar arrangement of it. I really like what Eastwood does, bringing back the cool funky guitars I’m always looking at on ebay. But I’ve had a chance to play two different models, an early Hi-Flyer and a hollow 12 string called the Classic 12. The classic 12 played very nicely and seemed very well put together. But the sound was flat and uninspiring. Of course I was at a vintage guitar show which was noisy, but I was plugged in to a nice Fender amp(forget which one). When I immediately then played an old 60’s 12 string Univox through the same amp, I instantly heard that cool jangly 12 string tone I was looking for.
I played the High Flyer at the same show, but it was through a small Vox modeling amp. Again, it seemed OK, but in the way a Fender Squier is OK. Very usable, but unremarkable. However, this Eastwood Tuxedo sounds amazing through this (expensive) Swart amp. So I certainly haven’t written off Eastwood yet.
I ran across this arrangement a few weeks ago on youtube and it’s also got me seriously considering a Tuxedo. I don’t currently have a semi or hollowbody, and want one. I dig the styling and the sound of those P90s. This same guy has several other vids on youtube – he’s a great player and does a great job of making that guitar sound awesome.
P90’s in a semi-hollow is one of my favorite guitar tones. I Haven’t tried one of these Tuxedos yet as it’s hard to find Eastwoods anywhere local. That guys demo of the Eastwood Espanada sounds equally tasty. http://youtu.be/2K-iGLBzAQ8
Another thing to consider is some of the original guitars the Tuxedo is based on. Statotones are very similar and go for about the same price on ebay. Of course your dealing with a 50+ year old guitar and they often have neck issues.
