Here’s an interesting technique for punching circles out of flat plastic sheet using a drill press. It’s from luthier Mr. Glyn. Basically he grinds the back end of a drill bit flat, then uses that same drill (the front side) to drill a hole in some steel. You then flip the bit back around without moving the steel block. Of course you could make side dots this way as well. Some materials may crack using this technique so you may have to experiment a bit.
